The University of Illinois

Setting the online education standard..

BACKGROUND
It seems like more and more traditional universities are offering online programs. Even five years ago very few classes could be taken online. Today, major universities are excited about a new demographic of students wanting to only take online classes, but don’t want to end-up at some “seen on TV college.” The University of Illinois is one such major university offering online degree programs.

The University of Illinois offers its online degree programs through all three of its campuses in Chicago, Springfield and Urbana-Champaign (the main campus). The online education is excellent at the university; in fact, it was ranked one of the top online schools in the country by Elluminate, Inc., a leading provider of live eLearning and web collaboration solutions. Only 11 schools in the United States and Canada were chosen. U of I doesn’t consider the online degrees special from regular degrees, just that the classes were taken online.

The university offers a multitude of degree programs Computer Information Science and Technology to History or Engineering. The university actually has 88 separate degree programs ranging from Bachelor's, Master's, Certificates and Continuing Education Degree Programs. Classes are taught according to the school's guidelines for online education. Each class follows strict guidelines on how to conduct their classes. Students will never feel left behind or not in the loop. Teachers are aware of every student's needs and take great pride in helping everyone learn.

Financial aid is also available. Admissions usually require a 2.00 grade point average, and depends on prior college or high school classes taken. U of I is accredited with the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, which means your credits may not transfer to other traditional colleges.
