BACKGROUND

Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy has provided massage therapy training since 1980. The field of massage therapy is in demand for professional massage therapists and in the variety of employment opportunities. There are more and more people seeking the therapeutic benefits of massage to relax, to relieve aches and pains, and to help reduce stress. Research is increasingly documenting the significant health benefits of therapeutic massage, and it is becoming a vital part of health and well being.

All campuses have fully-stocked libraries with books, professional journals and magazines, audio cassettes and computers with educational DVDs. Tutors, mentors, teaching assistants and study skills workshops are available, and thorough preparation for licensure is provided. Core to its mission, CCMT strives to provide comprehensive, professional training in a holistic context.

DEGREE PROGRAMS

- Massage Therapy: 48 quarter hours with 5 terms. This program teaches competency in 7 bodywork modalities: classic Western massage, cross-tissue massage, trigger-point massage, energy balancing, acupressure, on-site chair massage and sports and remedial massage.

- Full-time Massage Therapy: 39 quarter hours with 2-3 terms. This program teaches competency in five bodywork modalities: classic Western massage, cross-tissue massage, trigger-point massage, on-site chair massage and sports and remedial massage.

- Clinical Massage Therapy: 76 quarter hours with 6 terms. This program is designed for students intending to practice massage with a musculoskeletal rehabilitative orientation. Graduates of this program are eligible to apply for the NY State massage therapy licensure exam.

- Spa Massage Therapy: 45 quarter hours with 5 terms. This program is designed for students who want to be highly trained in both massage and spa modalities.

SCHOOLS

CCMT has three campuses. The main campus is located in Newington and there is a branch in Westport and one in Groton. All three locations offer a part-time massage therapy program. Newington offers a full-time massage therapy program, Westport offers a clinical massage therapy program and Groton offers a spa massage therapy program. All campuses offer varied and flexible schedule options and financial aid is available to those who qualify.

STUDENT LIFE

Students at Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy will have a non-traditional education experience, meaning students will have an expedite education and not have a traditional campus lifestyle.

Students in selected programs and campus locations can also participate in clinical education experiences in association with Hartford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, William W. Backus Hospital and The Spa at Norwich Inn.
