Have any of you applied for loan forgiveness? you can get it if you taught in a low income school for 5 years. I was just wondering where to send the paperwork because it says to send it to your loan holder (Nelnet) posted Aug 3rd, 2010 12:02 pm

I'm copying and pasting this again, because it really does work. I just got off the phone with the one person in that building obviously :) It's a long thing to sit through, but you get to speak to a person!

So, TO TALK TO A PERSON, to re-iterate:

From main menu, press option 4 then press option 1 to review all loans. (You may have to press option 1 again here) You have to listen through every loan group being read off by the computer voice. Then at end you get option to speak to human or go back to menu - press option 1!

Good luck! posted Jul 27th, 2010 6:22 pm

I will repost Jay's comment on how to speak to a person. When I finally got through to someone, he casually said "Yeah, they are working on that, it has been a main complaint these last few weeks."

"This is how you do it. You have to press option 4 then press option 1 to review loans you have to listen through every loan group being read off by a slow robot I have 7 of them. Then at end you get option to speak to human or go back to menu. First time I got disconnected by nel net when I tried human I had to go through all this again but I got a human." posted Jul 27th, 2010 4:07 pm

I agree with everyone. It is impossible to talk to a live person. I have never been able to change anything that I wanted to on this loan. I work with college students and advise them not to get their loans involved with this company. posted Jul 27th, 2010 4:01 pm

I agree. The customer service sucks. and reading all of these comments, I can see that nothing is being done about this. I even try the email option to get my questions answered and I get responses that don't even make sense. The first response I got, via email, was one where the person clearly did not even read my email. The second one said my question had been answered when a representative called me. He didn't even know my question!!!

The Customer Service from Nelnet is ridiculous. I can't believe I have to sit on the phone for 30 minutes just to get a hold of another human being. I will submit a complaint to them fully once I do get a hold one someone of their Service Rep. posted Jul 17th, 2010 10:29 am

I am extremly frustrated with the lack of service and the actual inability to make payments on my account. There is no way to actually make a payment, or increase your payments, on your account if you are even remotely ahead on them. I have tried calling the only phone number I can find on the website and it is an automated black hole. I have tried every prompt and there is abolsutely NO way to get a hold of a person. When I try to do a check by phone it tells me there isn't a payment due at this time and HANGS UP ON ME!!! I sent an email request 2 days ago stating EXACTLY what I wanted assistance with and recieved a cookie cutter response that "since there is no payment due at this time I can not make automated payments without an override" - which I've already figured out on my own. My request was for someone to contact me, since it is impossible for me to contact them, so that I can obtain this override and begin to make automated payments on my account. I can not believe how difficult they make it for customers to pay off their loans early. That should be illegal!!! posted Jul 16th, 2010 1:02 pm

Just wanted to report that John's method of getting through to a person does work. It is irritating to have to listen through all that account information, but it does get you through to a live person to talk to. She answered my question in about 3 minutes once I was able to talk to her, though she didn't seem that surprised to hear that it took awhile to get to her. I suspect that being an employee there is a tough job.

So, TO TALK TO A PERSON, to re-iterate:

I cannot believe the unprofessional and absolute ignorance of this company!!! Like so many others, I have called and called AND called, but to no avail. The numbers called ONLY provide you with an automated voice - absolutely no way to speak to a live person. This is unbelievable!!! How can so many people be angry with a company and a company not respond to individual's needs and requests? They have no problem sending and resending notices requesting payment and hitting you with late fees, interests, etc., but they refuse to speak with individuals. I agree with others - I loathe this company, they are MORANS, and if they refuse to answer my letters or e-mails, or call me, to hell with them.

I am demanding that someone contact me at my number in an attempt to resolve my concerns. . . we'll see. posted Jul 12th, 2010 9:49 am
