Common Misspellings
Nel net, Nellnet, Nellent
Stay away from these clowns!!!!! They withdrawl more than you authorize!! There online payment schedule doesn't reflect when and how much they actually withdrawl. When you speak to them about the issue it's never there fault. I asked to be transferred to a manager and the person I spoke with REFUSED. I asked for his name and he gave me John T. Refused to give me his full name, but these clowns can have my info and do whatever they please to do. Poor customer service. Scam artists at there finest!!!
These people are idiots and do not have policies in place to help people, only to prey upon them.

my loan was suppose to be discharged do to my disabilty, now I 'm gettings letters from Nelnet demanded full payments of interest and principal.whats wrong with this picture.
I have paid over 5000 for my loan in past 7 years they toke over 4000 dollars for interest!!!!!
They are very Unprofessional for customer service, and greedy when come to treat business. I would never recommend student, under graduate or graduate do business with them. It is simple to believe me, just read above feedbacks. We do not want anybody else to enter and severely suffer of their financial trap . When it come financial decision making, wise person use other people advice and experiences instead of experience himself or herself, but decision is yours.
Horrible company. Avoid them at all costs.
Had an issue with overpayment because one of my transactions was never posted to my account, so I ended up paying twice. Called customer service, and their representative sounded nice UNTIL I told her about my issue. The FIRST thing she tried to do was insist that it wasn't Nelnet's fault. Then she continued with a very rude tone in her voice, to the point where she was almost looking to ARGUE with me about the double transaction instead of helping me! Finally I managed to ask about getting a refund, which is the reason I called in the first place.
I never want to deal with Nelnet again.
The Dept of Ed is using Nelnet to "service" my student loans and my loan was transferred without my knowledge. Once I started trying to make payments it is impossible. Nelnet's website is garbage, the auto-pay has failed no less than 4 times now, with them trying to help me fix it when I call in. When I noticed that the autopay didn't work I tried to -manually- pay my bill and THAT DIDN'T WORK either. So then they call me saying my bill is late. I'm trying to buy a house and these morons are trying to ruin me. I'm complaining to my congressman. This is ridiculous.
3 days ago i owed less than 100 for march. today i went on to pay and it was over 200. when i asked what happened they said i really own about 130. I asked how I was supposed to know this and they said there was a malfunction! "it happens" Your money is not safe here plain an simple.
Poor servicer with non-functional website and no customer support
This is a terrible company. You definitely do not want to take out a loan with them. They have rude customer service representatives, terrible wait time, and the worst website in existence. I feel like they purposely fail to process payment, claiming that there is problem, to blow up your balance with interest. For everyone else, if you see Nelnet, run away, FAR away!
They are TERRIBLE!!! Don't give them one cent...you'd be better off going to the Mob,
The website is very confusing and I'm sure they could have done a better job with it. One one page they give a summary of my monthy loan payments, which is different from the payment amount on another section of the site. They should match up!
I called a representative and I didn't have to wait long, and the guy was suprisingly easy to understand which makes me wonder why the website is so misleading.
Apparently the numbers were different because I have to make 2 separate payments each month? Weird.
I heard many terrible things about this site, and I've only started repaying loans so I hope they have improved.
Waited on hold for 65 minutes for an operator - there was not any music, no automated voice - customer service is non existent. Read other comments, used the number Crissy added from BBB (402-458-2370) and was able to get through.
Absolutly atrocious! horrible in every way! This place needs to be shut down, website is terrible, customer service is nonexistant.
Agreed with what most of you all wrote here; HORRIBLE company, horrible website, and probably the worst at customer service! They make it nearly impossible to speak to a real person.I've tried three times to fax them some documents needed for a forebearance and the fax rings and rings. IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!
UGH!!!! All I want to do is look at my loan overview to see when my next payment is due and what's this Nelnet..my DOB and SSN don't match what you have in your system so you won't let me log in...I know my info is correct and you endlessly implore me to "try again" or "contact you" both are an utter useless waste of my time!! I HATE NELNET!!!!!!!
Okay so I called a different number from the BBB 402-458-2370 and got much better results! I recommend calling that # then press zero for operator- very helpful and Todd was able to answer all my questions and helped tremendously :)
I've been on hold for over 14 mins...really?? All I want to do is make a payment...no one's answering! I hate nelnet!!
Absolutely awful service! Nelnet is cumbersome and user UN-friendly! It's design is to milk as much profit out of the college educated underclass as it can. F**king corporate shills!
sallie mae sold half my loans to the goverment then they pawned it off on nelnet. i set up my online account for the first time and made a payment no problem. then next time it asked me security questions that wasnt in the setup. impossible to get online, impossible to get ahold of someone, and impossible to navigate the maze of a automated phone service.
worst thing i was ever forced into.
