BACKGROUND
Paying for college can be really tough. Not everyone has a nest egg saved up or is eligible for student loans. Scholarships can be a great way to pay for a part of your college tuition. American Liberty Scholarship is one of many scholarships available to aspiring college students.
American Liberty Scholarship is a foundation set up to provide a yearly scholarship to a deserving student. The scholarship is a one time $5,000 award given out to anyone who is aspiring to get their bachelors, masters, PhD or technical certification. Anyone can apply for the award through the online website. The application process is 3 steps which includes personal information as well as information regarding GPA and previous achievements.
Each month the top 10 semifinalists of those that apply in that month are chosen to go on to the next round. The 10 semifinalists chosen will then be sent a second form to fill out and will be required to write an essay. The Scholarship Review Committee will then choose 2 finalists from that month to go on to compete for the scholarship. The semifinalists will receive a $50.00 prize and a certificate. At the end of the year the 24 finalists will then compete to win the $5,000 scholarship.
The winner of the scholarship can only use the money to fund their education. The winner must also participate in any photos, video shoots or magazine articles at the discretion of the scholarship management.

American Liberty Scholarship is not a bad scholarship to apply for. Not many people probably know about this scholarship. The website lists only about 100 people apply each month so you have a decent chance of winning. However, the primarily goal of this website is to collect your personal information for marketing purposes. If you are okay with this practice go ahead and apply to the scholarship. Make sure you read the privacy policy and eligibility rules before you apply.

Marx Twain: I'd agree with you for a $500 "scholarship," but for this one, it seems well worth it. If you really need the money--many do these days--and you're confident in the value of your achievements, it seems well worth the few hours work involved. Although, it's disgusting how this is used as an advertising gimmick.
