Brady Thomas ripped a single into center field to complete a stunning, 3-2 South Carolina comeback win over Oklahoma in the College World Series Thursday night.clemson

Tyler Ogle’s home run in the top of the 12th inning gave Oklahoma a 2-1 lead and threatened to end the Gamecocks‘ season.

Ogle blasted a 1-0 pitch the opposite way, barely clearing the left-centerfield wall. The home run was Oklahoma’s first hit since the sixth inning.

South Carolina got the lead-off runner on base in the 12th when Robert Beary singled, but Evan Marzilli struck out after failing to get a bunt down and after Beary stole second, Whit Merrifield popped out.

The Gamecocks’ last hope was their best hitter, Jackie Bradley Jr., who was hitting .380 on the season. He delivered on a full count, driving a single into right. After a walk moved him to second, Thomas, who was 0-for-5 on the night, drove the first pitch he saw up the middle.

For a moment, it looked like there would be a play on Bradley Jr. at the plate, but Sooner centerfielder Chistopher Ellison misplayed the ball, setting off a wild celebration at home plate.

South Carolina will now face Clemson tomorrow, and the Gamecocks will need to win two in a row to eliminate the Tigers.

Oklahoma had taken a 1-0 in the second inning on an RBI single by Caleb Bushyhead. That run looked like it might have been enough for the win until the bottom of the eighth, when South Carolina’s Christian Walker singled in the tying run.

Oklahoma had a pair of runners on in the 9th inning when they hit into an inning-ending double play. South Carolina had a chance to win it in the 11th, but Bobby Haney grounded out with runners on first and second.
