University of Oklahoma Football Joins the 800 Wins Club

boomer soonerIf you have been paying attention to college football for the past few decades, you know that the University of Oklahoma has been considered a football powerhouse. On September 3, 2010, the Sooners changed this trend into a fact, when they won their 800th game as a school team against Utah State University. This makes the University of Oklahoma Sooners the seventh Division I team to become a member of the 800-Wins Club.

See when the other members, Michigan, Texas, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Ohio State and Penn State, earned their invitation to this elite club.

  • The University of Michigan has won the most football games, with 877 wins. There are also 77 Consensus All-Americans who have played for Michigan.
  • The University of Texas has won 845 football games. There are also 50 Consensus All-Americans who have played for Texas.
  • The University of Notre Dame has won 837 football games. There are also 96 Consensus All-Americans who have played for Notre Dame.
  • The University of Nebraska has won 827 football games. There are also 53 Consensus All-Americans who have played for Nebraska.
  • Ohio State University has won 819 football games. There are also 78 Consensus All-Americans who have played for Ohio State.
  • Penn State University has won 811 football games. There are also 39 Consensus All-Americans who have played for Penn State
  • The University of Oklahoma just joined the 800-Win Club. There are also 70 Consensus All-Americans who have played for Oklahoma.

So, considering these facts, does OU deserve the title of being one of the best football teams in the USA? In my opinion, of course we do! Boomer Sooner!
