Borders to Donate $15 Per Purchase to Public Schools December 4th and 5th, 2010

Parents have often been known to save box tops for education, open Upromise accounts, donate to school programs through companies like Target, and collect labels for education, but the latest company to help parents and students donate much needed supplies and funding to their public schools is Borders.

The company, popular for its vast assortment of books, is now awarding any Borders customer that makes a purchase in one of their stores nationwide a special $15 gift card to then donate to the public school of their choice.

The gift cards may be redeemed through the internet charity company DonorsChoose.org. Donor Choose, according to their website, has expanded their services and ensure that every public school in the United States is available for a donation collaboration.

The campaign is reportedly a result of Borders inspiration from the blockbuster Waiting for ‘Superman’, a movie that casts a harsh light on the American public school system.

Additionally, any customer purchasing the Waiting for ‘Superman’: How We Can Save America’s Failing Public Schools will also reportedly receive an additional $15 gift card to pass along to a public school of their choice as well.

The campaign will only last for two days, and purchases must be made in store at Borders on December 4th and/or December 5th, 2010 and are redeemable from book, movie, music, and even café purchases.

Stop on into Borders, grab a book or a latte this weekend and help provide America’s public school systems with the resources they need to ensure a quality education for our nation’s youth.
