William Daley’s Education Background

William Daley is an American lawyer and business executive. Daley was born August 9, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois. Daley has served as the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and the Executive Committee of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. Daley became President Obama’s new White House Chief of Staff on January 6, 2011. EDUinReview will now take a look at his education background.

Daley is the seventh child of former Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley and Eleanor Daley. Daley attended Loyola University, where he earned his bachelor’s of arts degree. He also earned his bachelor’s of laws degree from John Marshall Law School. John Marshall Law School later gave Daley an honorary doctor of law degree. However, according to ChicagoMag.com, Daley was never a top student and only passed the insurance broker’s exam because a state employee changed his answers on the test to help him make a better score.

Daley has been a prominent supportor of Barack Obama since the 2008 Democratic presidential primaries. In November 2008, he became a member of the advisory board of the Obama-Biden Transition Project. Daley will take over as the White House Chief of Staff at the end of this month or the beginning of February 2011. The former White House Chief of Staff was Pete Rouse, the interim chief of staff, replacing White House Chief of Staff was Rahm Emanuel.
