Nicole Kidman’s Education Background

Actress Nicole Kidman--Straight HairNicole Mary Kidman was born on June 20, 1967 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her father is Dr. Antony David Kidman, a biochemist, clinical psychologist, and author. Her mother is Janelle Ann Kidman, a nursing instructor. Kidman has one younger sister, Antonia. At the time of her birth, Kidman’s father was a visiting fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health of the United States. The family returned to their native Australia when Kidman was four years old.

In Sydney Kidman attended Lane Cove Public School and North Sydney Girls’ High School. She went on to study at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. She then attended the Phillip Street Theater in Sydney to continue her study of acting. Eventually finishing her studies at the Australian Theater for Young People.

Kidman’s professional career started in her teens. She starred in a music video. By 1983 she had landed her first television role and her first four film roles. Her Australian career contained several productions throughout the eighties.

In 1990, Kidman became an American star as she starred opposite Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder. This was Kidman’s American debut and the film was among the highest grossing of the year. Kidman’s career was meet with continued success. Her major films have included Batman Forever, Moulin Rouge!, The Hours and Rabbit Hole. In 2003, Kidman received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 2003 is also the year she won an Academy Award for her performance in The Hours.

Kidman’s personal life had gained her notoriety as well. She and movie co-star, Tom Cruise, were married from 1990 to 2001. The couple adopted two children during their marriage. Currently Kidman is married to country music singer Keith Urban. The couple married in 2006 and have two children together.
