Jessica Simpson’s Education Background

Jessica Simpson BlondJessica Ann Simpson was on born July 10, 1980 in Abilene, Texas. She is the daughter of Tina Ann and Joe Truett Simpson, who was a minister and psychologist. Her younger sister is singer Ashlee Simpson. As a child Simpson began singing at her local church. Simpson attended J.J. Pearce High School During high school  she signed a contract with  Proclaim Records, a minor Gospel music record label. After recorded her first album, titled, “Jessica,” Proclaim went bankrupt. With the exception of a small pressing funded by Simpson’s grandmother, the album was never released.

At the age of 16 Simpson left high school to further her career. She later earned her GED. Columbia Records executive Tommy Mattola heard her self titled album and was signed to the major label.

Simpson’s rise to fame began in 1999. She released her first single, “I Wanna Love You Forever,” which peaked at number three. Soon after, her major label debut album Sweet Kisses was released, and went on to become double platinum. The follow-up singles “Where You Are” and “I Think I’m In Love With You” were both released in 2000, contributed to the albums major success.

Simpson followed up her first album with the release of Irresistible in 2001. Simpson’s second album debuted at number six by June 2001. In it’s first week, 127,000 copies were sold. Later the album was certified Gold by the Recording Industry of America.  Irresistible has sold 850,000 copies in the US to date.

Simpson was a superstar by the early 2000’s. Since then, Simpson has achieved many recording milestones She has starred in multiple television shows, movies, and commercials She even launched a line of hair and beauty products, and designed fragrances, shoes, and handbags for women. Simpson has devoted time to philanthropic efforts including Operation Smile and a USO-hosted tour for troops stationed overseas.
