Ryan Seacrest’s Education Background

Ryan Seacrest HeadshotRyan John Seacrest was born on December 24, 1974 in an Atlanta suburb, Dunwoody, Georgia. He is the son of Gary Lee and Constance Marie Seacrest. Seacrest attended Dunwoody High School. At age sixteen Seacrest won a hard-to-get internship at WSTR FM, in Atlanta. He was trained in the many skills of radio. Seacrest began to work on air at age sixteen.

After Seacrest graduated from high school in 1992 he went on to study journalism at the University of Georgia. Seacrest left UGA at age nineteen and moved to Hollywood to further his broadcasting career. Seacrest briefly attended Santa Monica City College.

At age twenty Seacrest landed a job in Los Angeles at KYSR-FM 98.7’s afternoon show. The show was titled Ryan Seacrest for the Ride Home. It became the station’s No. 1 show and was nationally syndicated.

Seacrest also worked in a few minor television jobs before accepting the position as co-host of the TV series American Idol in 2002. In 2003 Seacrest was the sole host of American Idol and he became a household name. The show was seen by more than twenty-six million viewer every week.

In 2004, Seacrest became the new host of the radio program American Top 40, created and formerly hosted by the legendary Casey Kasem. Later in 2004 Seacrest became host of Los Angeles radio station KIIS’s morning show. This replaced long-time host Rick Dees. This show, also known as On Air With Ryan Seacrest, is still on the air.

In 2006 Seacrest won a Daytime Emmy Award for co-hosting the 2005 Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade. In August 2008 Seacrest was given a contract from ABC making him the co-host of the long time New Year’s Eve program, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.” The program was renamed to “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest.”
