Dane Cook’s Education Background

comedian dane cook headshotDane Jeffrey Cook was born on March 18, 1972 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Cook is the second son of George F. and Donna Jean Cook. The family moved to Arlington, Massachusetts, where Cook attended Arlington High School. After graduation, Cook studied graphic design in college as a fall-back plan in case he could not earn a living doing comedy. He now designs all of his merchandise.

In 1994, Cook moved to New York City and began performing. In 1996 Cook moved to Los Angeles. Cook’s big break came in 1998 when he appeared on the Comedy Central show Premium Blend.

In 2003, Cook released his first comedy album, Harmful If Swallowed. Cook then signed a contract with Comedy Central Records. His first album is certified platinum. Just two years later Cook released his second album entitled Retaliation. Retaliation went double platinum and made Cook the first comedian in 29 years to have an album top the Billboard charts.

On April 15, 2005, Cook performed his first HBO Special entitled Vicious Circle. As Cook’s popularity grew he earned more opportunities to be in the spot light. On December 3, 2005, Cook was the host for Saturday Night Live. Cook’s episode was one of the highest-rated SNLs of the season.

Throughout his career, Cook has released five comedy albums. The albums are Harmful If Swallowed; Retaliation; Vicious Circle; Rough Around The Edges: Live From Madison Square Garden; and Isolated Incident. Cook has also branched out into the acting and directing. He has appeared in a number of films since 1997, including Mystery Men, Waiting…, Employee of the Month, Good Luck Chuck, Dan in Real Life, Mr. Brooks, and My Best Friend’s Girl.
