Dan Marino’s Educational Background

Dan Marino Educational Background

Introduction:

Dan Constantino Marino Jr. is a former NFL quarterback and holder of more than a dozen NFL records. While he never won the Super Bowl in his seventeen seasons with the Miami Dolphins, Marino is still recognized as one of the greatest quarterbacks in history. His powerful arm not only  led his team to 10 playoff appearances but also netted them a spot in Super Bowl XIX. Inducted into  Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005,  Marino has filled his life after football with NASCAR, acting,  commercial appearances,  and charity work.

Background:

Born September 15, 1961, Dan Marino is the eldest of Daniel and Veronica Marino’s children. He and his two younger sisters were raised in Pittsburgh’s South Oakland, a decisively blue-collar neighborhood. It wasn’t until he reached high school that he started taking sports seriously.  By the time he graduated, he’d won Parade All-American honors and a chance to play for the Kansas City Royals. But, he decided to take his chance on college football instead and spent four years playing for the Pittsburgh Panthers.  Marino was later drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1983. By the time he’d reached his second year in the NFL, Marino was shattering NFL records left and right. After nearly twenty years with the Dolphins,  Marino opted to retire in 2000.

Dan Marino married his wife, Claire, in 1985. The pair would go on to have seven children. While he publicly admitted to fathering one child in a 2005 affair, Marino and his wife’s marriage is still going strong. Currently, he works as a spokesperson for Nutrisystem and a men’s life ambassador for AARP.

Education:

When he was growing up, Marino’s family lived right across the street from St. Regis Catholic Elementary School. So, he spent many of his formative years there. Upon reaching his teenage years, this future football legend transferred to Central Catholic High School in the heart of Pittsburgh. He graduated from Central Catholic 1979 with a full-ride scholarship from the University of Pittsburgh. In between all his record-breaking and partying, Marino managed to net himself a Bachelor’s degree in communications. Though he never returned to school, his alma mater would later grant him an honorary doctorate in broadcast journalism.

Educational Background: What University did Colin Kaepernick go to?

Colin Kaepernick University

Colin Kaepernick has proven one thing lately: he doesn’t always stand up for what he believes in. Recently at the center of American controversy, this 49ers player has chosen to sit out The Star-Spangled Banner.  He aims to use this anti-patriotic display to draw attention to racial inequality and police brutality across all fifty states. Before his actions drew the attention of red-blooded Americans everywhere, and spread to other players in the NFL, Kaepernick led his team to Super Bowl XLVII in 2012. Long before recruiters came knocking at his door, Colin dreamed of football. We will be examining his high school and college education on this edition of EduReview.

Colin Kaepernick School

Born in Milwaukee on November 3rd of 1987, He spent a few weeks with his birth mother before being put up for adoption.  He was immediately taken in by Rick and Teresa Kaepernic. He went from being the biracial child of a single mother to the newest member of an upper-class family. Following the rest of his family, a four-year old Colin moved to California at the age of four. By the time he was eight, Colin impressed his local football and baseball league with his throwing power. Colin can seemingly predict the future. In fourth grade, he penned a letter that described his future as starting quarterback for the 49ers.  When he entered John H. Pitman High School, he proved himself a versatile star both on and off the green; he was a first team all-district, all-conference, and all-academic selection. His first recruitment round went less than swimmingly. After graduating from high school, Colin enrolled at the University of Nevada on a football scholarship. After the team’s longtime starter suffered a concussion, Kaepernick took over as the school’s number one quarter back. Colin valued his college education more than sports; this is easily proven by one choice. He turned down an offer from the Chicago Cubs to finish his degree in business management. When the 49ers came calling after his graduation, Colin did not make the same choice twice.

Huma Abedin Educational Background: What College did Huma Abedin Attend?

Huma Abedin University

The ex-wife of scandalized Anthony Weiner, Huma Abedin is a lot of things: a mother, a practicing Muslim, and the vice chairwoman for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. She has been characterized as indispensable to the former first lady and holds the title of “Traveling Chief of Staff.” This seems to be more than just media assumptions. In a 2007 Vogue article, Clinton was quoted as saying, ““Huma Abedin has the energy of a woman in her 20s, the confidence of a woman in her 30s, the experience of a woman in her 40s and the grace of a woman in her 50s… I am lucky to have had her on my team for a decade now.” Judging by Abedin’s recent promotion, those positive thoughts remain in place nine years later. Huma Abedin comes from a family of academics; both parents hold doctorates from the University of Pennsylvania. With this background in mind, it should not be surprising that Abedin earned her own college degree.

One of three children born to Sayed Abedin and Saleha Abedin, Huma moved from Kalamazoo to Saudi Arabia at just two years old. This time in the Middle East gave her a unique perspective issues plaguing Muslim minorities. After graduating primary education, Huma returned to the United States to attend George Washington University. A private research university in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of DC, GWU was established at the behest of our first president. During her time there, Huma worked as both a White House intern and a member of various Islamic-centric organization. After her college graduation, Huma quickly moved into a career in the political realm.
