While it may be too late to capitalize on the Olympic dreams you had when you were eight-years-old, it’s never too late to workout like a professional athlete, even if you’re a busy student.

Here are the top five schools where staying fit is as much a part of the collegiate experience as cramming for finals and paying too much for college textbooks. Just keep in mind that there is no special ranking to this list.

Apolo Anton Ohno’s Charitable Work

apolo anton ohnoAs if being a five-time Olympic medalist isn’t enough, Apolo Anton Ohno, who is one medal shy of breaking U.S. Winter Olympian athlete history in the 2010 Winter Olympics, is also an ardent supporter of charitable and philanthropic causes that are special to him. And even though he dedicates most of his day to training to become one of the world’s best speed skaters, he still carves out time for those less fortunate than he is.

In 2002, Ohno raised funds to support the Ronald McDonald House and in 2006, he joined efforts with clothing giant, Gap, to become part of their Project Red campaign, an iniative to help raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in Africa. Through his fund-raising efforts with the Project Red campaign, money was given to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS organization to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

  • Don patriotic clothing: Guests are only allowed to wear clothing that represents their country of origin. So if you hail from the U.S., red, white and blue digs must be worn and for your dorm buddy who comes from India, green, saffron and white clothing is their ticket into the soiree.

Caressa Cameron Wins Miss America Scholarship and Crown

Just this past weekend, the new Miss America was crowned. Caressa Cameron, a 22-year-old broadcast journalism student at Virginia Commonwealth University was selected from 53 other contestants for her brains, beauty and inspiring optimism.

“I hope to gain inspiration, I hope to gain momentum so that when this 365 days is over, I can shoot through the moon,” Cameron told The Associated Press.

Cameron is the first black Miss America since 2005 and once her year wearing the pageant’s crown is complete, she will finish her education and go on to receive her master’s degree in broadcast journalism so that she can become a news anchor.

Read and Ride Program Combats Childhood Obesity and Illiteracy

read and ride logoObesity is considered an epidemic in America. Over 34 percent of adults are considered obese. How did this happen? They didn’t turn 18 and magically gain weight. Unfortunately, a large percentage of these adults were overweight or obese as children as well.

Safely Celebrate the Night Before Thanksgiving

It’s the last night to go hang out with your friends before you must subject yourself to a weekend of “family fun” with Uncle Sam and Aunt  Susanne. It’s also a great time to see friends who are in town that you haven’t seen in a while. And since nobody has to get up for work  or class the next morning, you can stay up late and party all night long.
