McGovern-Dole Nutrition Relief Grant Program Now Accepting Proposals

McGovern-DoleThe U.S. government currently provides direct donations for food programs through the Food for Progress Program, the Food for Peace Act, the Local and Regional Procurement Project and the McGovern–Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program.

According to reports, the McGovern-Dole aids in child nutrition, education and nourishment endeavors for poverty stricken countries, primarily in grade school aged girls.

Due on Friday, October 15, 2010 by 5pm est., the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is currently accepting submissions for FY 2011 Food Assistance proposal grants for the McGovern-Dole Food for Education program.

If you are interested in applying, proposals are preferred online, but you are also encouraged to email in a submission as well. The proposals are encouraged to include how proper nutrition will strengthen literacy and numeracy rates for the children. The organization also says preference will be given to proposals that are clearly outlined, realistic, sustainable and demonstrate that the greatest benefits will have a substantial impact on the beneficiaries.
