Zach Galifianakis is an American actor and comedian. He first gained an underground following for his stand-up comedy acts and his appearances on the Comedy Central Presents specials. He became more of a household name when he starred in The Hangover, Dinner for Schmucks, and Due Date in 2009 and 2010. His next movie is set to be released in the USA on May 26, 2011. Zach was born on October 1, 1969, in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. He is the second child of Mary Francis and Harry Galifianakis. He is of Greek descent on his father’s side. Zach graduated from Wilkes Central High School in Moravian Falls, NC. He then attended North Carolina State University, where he studied communications. He did not graduate from college.
Zach’s first episode of Comedy Central Presents aired in September 2001. He then began hosting his own talk show on VH1 in 2002 called Late World with Zach. The show featured many of Zach’s friends and co-performers. The next year, Zach joined the cast of Tru Calling and stayed with the show until 2005.
