HISTORY
Delta Tau Delta is a fraternity that was founded in 1858 on the campus of Bethany College in Bethany, Virginia (now West Virginia). There are currently around 119 chapters of the fraternity located throughout the United States. The headquarters of Delta Tau Delta are located in Fishers, Indiana. Delta Tau Delta members have a current GPA average of 2.95 and the fraternity offers a leadership academy based on the book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
The original eight founders of Delta Tau Delta were upset by a fixed vote for a prize in oratory to be given at the Neotrophian Literary Society, so they met to create their own organization. Those eight men included William Randolph Cunningham, Alexander Campbell Earle, Richard Havener Alfred, Henry King Bell, John Calvin Johnson, Jacob Snedeker Lowe, Eugene Torr and John Lucius Newton Hunt.
