State Oratorical Awards

Description
Annual contest open to any student in New Jersey who is enrolled in classes equivalent to grades 9 through 12. Students must be a U.S. citizen, under 20 years old and be enrolled in high school during all levels of participation of the contest. Contest consists of 4 levels of competition: Local high school; District; Zone; State Finals. The State Finalists are awarded: 1st Place-$4,000; 2nd place-$2,500; 3rd place-$2,000; 4th place-$1,000; and 5th place-$1,000. The First Place Finalist will represent New Jersey in the National Competition, which awards scholarship monies up to $18,000. Contact your high school early in September or the local American Legion Post for more information and/or application.
