Description
Annual awards for residents of Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda and Sumter counties, South Carolina who are undergraduate and graduate students attending an accredited college, university or technical school. Applicants must be descendants of one of the enslaved families at the Woodlands Plantation, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Selection is based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and personal statement. If no descendant of an enslaved family is available, a student in Bamberg County meeting the remaining criteria will be eligible. Award amount and number of awards varies.
