Full Scholarships for Athletes but Not Academics

A report on the number of full scholarships given to athletes compared to those given to academic students. Many schools do not even offer free rides to students for academics, yet hand out hundreds of full scholarships to athletes. Why are students rewarded for more for their sports talent than for high academic achievement at so many colleges and universities?
