The Marine Mechanics Institute, also known as MMI, is a division of the Universal Technical Institute. This school is a training facility to teach interested students how to work with various engines on marine equipment. The Marine Mechanics Institute provides the thorough training needed to become an entry-level marine technician. The curriculum at the Marine Mechanics Institute is a 60-week program that starts with the basics and builds from there. Upon completion, entry-level marine technicians are able to use specialized diagnostic equipment and are able to repair and perform maintenance on equipment.

Once the core classes have been completed, there are courses that focus specifically on certain manufacturers. Receiving training through the Marine Mechanics Institute is a great opportunity for those who might be interested in or already have a love for boats. Through the marine technology program at MMI, students have access to hands-on training, experienced instructors, strong industry connections and lots of student support. There is currently only one campus for MMI located in Orlando, Florida. MMI is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology.

Currently MMI offers training to those aspiring to be marine technicians. This is the only type of training the Marine Mechanics Institute offers.

Students are encouraged to take advantage of the resources they have available to them while attending MMI. There is help with job placement both while taking classes and after completing the training program. There are also resources available to help students find affordable housing while they are in school. Job fairs and on-campus interviews are conduction often as a source to help students in their job search.
