The school was founded in 1998 to meet the needs of students wanting to take an in-depth look at psychology and use it in the business world. University of the Rockies offers master's and doctoral degrees either on campus or online, depending on the preference of the student. University of the Rockies is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Students can typically obtain their master's degree in 18-20 months and their doctoral degree in a little over three years.

There are many areas of emphasis to choose from within the master's and doctoral degrees that focus on psychology. The admissions requirements for a master’s degree from University of the Rockies include a bachelor’s degree with a 3.0 or higher GPA from a regionally accredited university.

In order for students to be admitted in the doctoral program, they must have a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a 3.0 or higher GPA. Fortunately, there is no mention of these degrees having to fall under a certain major field of study. However, there are certain classes that must be taken prior to student's admission.
