One Piece of Advice for College Girls

A good friend of mine is a contributor for nonsociety.com and recently featured a “guest post” written by Chiara Atik, a graduate of NYU‘s department of dramatic writing. I just so happened to stumble upon it and thought it would be nice to share. Sorry, boys, this one’s for the ladies…pajamas

Here are a few of my favorite excerpts:

“It goes without saying that you should try to meet as many people as you can, because it’ll never again be as easy as stumbling up to someone at a party and saying “Is this the line for the bathroom?”

“Absolutely you should try to have as many philosophical debates as you can, because though you’ll definitely sound pompous and pretentious, you’re a college student, so at least people expect it of you.”

“Arguably, you should kiss as many people as possible, because when you’re old and settled down, you don’t want to tell your grandchildren: ‘This one time in college I met a French guy at a party and we talked. It was wild!’”

“But the one thing you absolutely, definitely, 100% should know do, is buy a pair of pajamas. Because fire drills happen. And when they do happen, you really don’t want to be forced to go outside at 3 a.m. in your high school P.E. gym shorts, giant t-shirt with the cats on it that your grandma gave you when she went to Al-CAT-traz, and Tweety-bird slippers. Just, trust me on this one.”
