Emma Watson Education

Emma Watson was born on April 15, 1990 and rose to fame quite quickly. Her first professional acting job is also the role she is most famous for: Watson portrays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films. Watson had only acted in school plays before being cast as Hermione. In anticipation of the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, EDUinReview would like to take a peek into the education background of this beautiful young actress.

Watson moved to Oxford with her mother and her brother, Alexander, who has also appeared in two of the Harry Potter movies. Watson attended The Dragon School, an independent preparatory school in Oxford until June 2003. Then she moved to Headington School, another independent school for girls.

During filming, Watson was tutored for as many as five hours each day. In June 2006, she took 10 General Certificate of Secondary Education exams. She earns eight “A+”s and two “A”s.  She also received “A”s in the English Literature, Geography, and Art Advanced Level exams.

There were many rumors that Watson would attend Trinity College, Cambridge, Columbia University, Brown University, or Yale University. In September 2009, she finally confirmed that she would be attending Brown University.

Watson explains her decision to pursue a higher education in favor of pursuing a full-time acting career:

“People can’t understand why I don’t want to,” she said. “But school life keeps me in touch with my friends. It keeps me in touch with reality.”

Watson has received many awards for her work. Some of these include the Best Young Actress award from the Broadcast Film Critics Association,  Child Performance of the Year from Total Film, and Best Movie Actress from UK Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released in the U.S. on November 19, 2010.

Emma Watson has an estimated net worth of $80 million as of 2018.
