Owen Wilson's Education Background

Owen Wilson is an American actor and writer who is best known for his comedies like The Wedding Crashers and Meet the Parents. He has also been the lead in several chick flicks, including Marley & Me and How Do You Know?. His most recent movie to hit the big screens is Cars 2, in which he returns to voice the main character, Lightning McQueen. EDUinReview will now take a look at Wilson’s education background.

Wilson was born on November 18, 1968, in Dallas, Texas. His parents are Laura and Robert Wilson. He has two brothers, Andrew and Luke. Wilson was a self-proclaimed trouble-maker and his antics got him expelled from St. Mark’s Academy when he was in the 10th grade. He then went on to graduate from Thomas Jefferson High School. After high school, Wilson went to a military academy in New Mexico, probably in order to get a little more structure in his life and curb his trouble-making tendencies. He then returned to Texas and attended the University of Texas. While at UT, Wilson met Wes Anderson and the two men wrote a screenplay, Bottle Rocket. The screenplay was eventually turned into a feature film; Anderson and Wilson went on to write and produce other movies, such as The Royal Tenenbaums.

Although he had some moderate success prior to 2000, this year was very important for Wilson. During this year he had two smash hits: Meet the Parents and Shanghai Noon. The next year he co-wrote and produced The Royal Tenenbaums, for which he was nominated for two awards for Best Original Screenplay. He also co-starred with Ben Stiller in Zoolander in 2001.

In 2003 he revived his role as Roy O’Bannon in Shanghai Knights and the next year he continued portraying Kevin Rawley in Meet the Fockers. Some of his other notable movies that have been released since then include Wedding Crashers, Night at the Museum, Hall Pass, and You, Me, and Dupree. Wilson is often referred to as a member of the Frat Pack, a group of male comedians who have had huge successes at the box office in the past few years. Other members of the Frat Pack include Vince Vaughn, Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Luke Wilson, and Will Ferrell.
