4 Things to Consider when Choosing an Online Bachelor’s Program

Which College to Pick?

Online courses and bachelor’s programs really transform the face of education. You can now enroll in top universities across the country without actually moving near campus. You can also get a bachelor’s degree – as well as a master’s degree – in any field of your choice at your own time. Not all online degrees are created equal though, which is why in this article we are going to review the four most important things to consider when choosing an online bachelor’s program.

The Universities Matter

The universities behind the available online programs matter. You will get the same lecturers and syllabus as the offline programs. Your degree will also be issued the same way offline degrees are issued, so take your time and choose the right university to join.

If you’re thinking about getting an online nursing degree, for instance, universities like Arizona State University are your best options. For law studies, you can look into names such as Harvard and Hofstra. Each university has its own top major or focus and you can find out more about it by doing a quick research.

Accreditation

The second thing to check is accreditation. We have several accrediting bodies in this country, but there are a few you should rely on more if you’re searching for online programs. The National Center for Education Statistics, for instance, has a comprehensive College Navigator tool that you can use to find out more about different available programs, including distance learning and online courses.

Make sure the program you want to join is accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the Department of Education. Good accreditation will determine whether the degree can be used to find better jobs in the future – and will be recognized by companies across the country.

Check the Curriculum

Searching for the best online education program is very similar to finding a program to join offline. You need to know exactly what you’re getting into before deciding to enroll. Take your time and read more about the program’s curriculum before deciding to enroll. Most of the time, you can actually read the complete syllabuses for different courses by visiting the online course’s main website.

Another important thing to check is the credits. A good way to separate the good online courses from the rest is to check whether the credits you earn from taking the online course can be transferred to another university.

The Cost of the Program

Lastly, make sure the online course tuition and other costs are well within your budget. Online courses tend to be more affordable than their offline counterparts. The university doesn’t need to prepare classrooms or pay for overhead costs, which makes the available online degrees more accessible to many.

Review these essential factors and you will be able to find the best online course to join. Soon, you’ll be well on your way towards getting an accredited online degree from a reputable university. You can even join accelerated programs in certain fields and complete the course in as little as two years.

Nikki Minaj – Onika Tanya Maraj Educational Background

Onika Tanya Maraj Nicki Minaj

Born in Trinidad and Tobago on December 8th, Onika Tanya Maraj experienced a childhood filled with abuse, drug-addiction, and violence. It would be these struggles that led her to fight for her own empowerment. Along the way, she was helped by a variety of personas including Cookie, Harajuku Barbie, and eventually Nicki Minaj. Always having a flare for performance, she went on to author her first rap at the age of twelve. After her graduation from high school, the determined Minaj went on to back-up sing for many local rappers. After her MySpace was discovered by Dirty Money’s CEO, she was quickly signed to his label. She released her first debut album in 2010 at the age of 28. She has gone on to win best hip-hop female, judge on American Idol, and appear in the 2012 super bowl. The New York Times has gone on to name her the most influential female rapper in history.
Did you know she attended one of the best music and acting schools? schools in the country? The school featured in Fame, LaGuardia has taught celebrities including Liza Minnelli and Al Pacino about the art of acting and performing. Nicki Minaj become an alumni of La Guardia School of Music and Art and the Performing Arts in 2002. Contrary to what many might believe, her academic interests had little to do with music. She chose to pursue a major in acting; videos from those days showcase Minaj as the fiery independent woman we know today. Her jaw-dropping stage presence likely benefited from her time spent in all those drama classes. While she never had the opportunity to attend college, something she commonly laments, the superstar encourages other young people to do so.
She believes that education is key to empowerment and independence. Marie Claire quoted her as saying the following in 2013: “My fans send me pictures of their diplomas; the younger ones send me pictures of their report card. Whether I had this platform or not, I would be telling little girls and little boys, stay in school. Always depend on yourself. Make a name for yourself. That’s how I treat my nieces and my little brother. They’re 15, 13, and about eight, and I never want them to get to a place where they have to depend on anyone else.” As should be obvious from her stand out style, Minaj truly values the independence that an education can bring.

Robyn Rihanna Fenty Educational Background

Known as the queen of digital downloads, Robyn Rihanna Fenty is the eldest of three children born to Monica and Ronald Fenty. Experiencing the horrors of her father’s addiction from a young age, and living through a traumatic divorce, a visit from producer Evan Rodgers gave her a chance to be fly free. At the age of sixteen, she moved to live with Rodgers and his wife in Connecticut. After being introduced to the CEO of Def Jam Records, she was signed on as an artist. Rihanna went on to become the youngest artist in the USA to hold 12 record albums. She became the first singer in the United Kingdom to have three songs featured simultaneously on the “UK Offcial Chart”. How did this Barbadian woman rise to such success? Did her education play a role?
Unlike many on this list, Rihanna lacks an extensive collegiate background. While she never graduated, dropping out at the age of fifteen to pursue a music career, she spent her high school years at the Combermere School in Barbados. With numerous awards in the arts, along with a dedicated music program, this secondary school provides many outlets for students to express their creativity. While she did not feature on the honor roll, she won multiple talent shows and became the star of the campus’ beauty contest. While she lacks a high school diploma, Rihanna has gone on to stun the world with her musical prowess and unique fashion sense.
This lack of education does not exclude her from believing in its benefits. In 2012 she launched the Clara Lionel Scholarship foundation. Providing up to 50,000 dollars per year to deserving students from Barbados to Haiti, this program gives students a chance to complete a degree at a school of their choosing. In a recent statement, Rihanna had the following to say about this fund, “”Higher education will help provide perspective, opportunities and learning to a group of kids who really deserve it. I am thrilled to be able to do this.” For the foreseeable future, she will continue to donate to this worthwhile cause.

How to Succeed at an Online Degree

EduInReview Online Education

Online Education

These days, you don’t have to sit in a traditional classroom to get a degree that will allow you to enter a new career or enhance your existing career. Instead, you can get your degree online from one of the best universities in the country, and you can get an advanced degree, such as a masters in public health online, without having to leave the comfort of home as you complete assignments and exams and prepare for an exciting new job. Keep reading to learn how to succeed at an online degree so you can make the most of this path.

Know How to Manage Your Time

Time management is a skill that you definitely need if you’re going to be attending school online because you won’t be required to attend class in person at specific hours of the day and on certain days of the week.

Without this structure, it could be easy to forget when you need to listen to a lecture online or submit an assignment. Therefore, you need to be proactive and really take responsibility for your learning by determining the times of day during which you’ll focus on your studies without interruption.

Create a Quiet Study Environment

Whether you’re opting to get your public health degree online, a business degree, or a degree in a creative field, working online requires that you create a suitable study environment in your home. This is especially important if you’re living with a roommate or you have a family with children.

The best study environment will help you concentrate in a comfortable space without any noise or interruption. Make sure that the room is lit well and that you can study undisturbed. In the event that your house is too loud and distracting, you could also go to the library, which is guaranteed to be quiet.

Be Persistent, Dedicated, and Independent

Pursuing a degree online requires that you have persistence and dedication to see the entire process through, just as you would need for any other degree in a traditional classroom environment at a local college. However, you also need to be comfortable working independently and taking on 100% of the responsibility of learning and achieving, especially if you’re completing an advanced degree, such as a master of public health.

Without this independent nature, it might be difficult to complete your degree completely online, as you’ll be too reliant upon professors and fellow students who can work with you in person rather than from remote.

Know How to Communicate Online

Once you enroll in an online degree program, you’ll be able to communicate with your professors and fellow students via discussion boards, chat rooms, emails, text messages, and by phone.

Whenever you communicate electronically, you need to be professional. This includes using subject lines in all of your emails, avoiding sarcasm in your conversations, returning messages in a prompt manner, and using appropriate language and intensifiers like asterisks rather than caps.

Follow the easy tips and strategies above once you decide to get your degree online, as doing so will make it easier to succeed.
