Jillian Michaels’ Education Background

Biggest Loser TrainerJillian Michaels is a fitness expert best known as one of the trainers on The Biggest Loser.

As a child, Jillian Michaels struggled with her weight until her mother enrolled her in a martial arts class. After high school, she briefly attended California State University at Northridge. Michaels worked as a bartender for a time before becoming a personal trainer. She went on to open her own gym.

Michaels is an experienced trainer in a variety of physical fitness disciplines. She holds two personal training certificates, one from the National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association (NESTA) and one from the American Fitness Association of America (AFAA). Jillian also has a certification in Kettlebell Concepts. She is has a wellness and nutrition certification from American Fitness Professionals Associates (AFPA).

Brett Hoebel’s Education Background

biggest loser trainersOne of the two new trainers introduced in season 11 of The Biggest Loser, Brett Hoebel has studied physical fitness from many different angles. He was a high school athlete who played lacrosse, football and also wrestled.

Hoebel grew up in Princeton, New Jersey and attended Claremont McKenna College. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a dual major in psychology and biology. He later took biomedical science classes at Rutgers University.

However, Hoebel has not always been a healthy weight. Between the ages of 11 and 15, he was about 50 pounds overweight. But Hoebel had a life changing summer after his freshman year of high school, when he attended several sports camps and lost his excess weight. “These struggles have shaped who I am and are why I ended up in this career,” said Hoebel in a press release.

Cara Castronuova’s Education Background

Biggest Loser TrainersThis boxing champion is one of the new trainers introduced in season 11 of The Biggest Loser, but being on the show isn’t Cara Castronuova‘s first claim to fame. She’s a two-time Golden Gloves winner, trainer and stuntwoman.

Cara Castronuova grew up in Elmont, New York. She attended Hofstra University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. She wrestled throughout high school and college.

Her education in boxing started at the age of five, when she first learned in the family garage with her father, who was a former Marine. Castronuova entered the boxing ring as a youth boxing trainer. She won her first fight in 2002 at the Empire State Games in Syracuse. Castronuova went on to win many titles, including the “Silver Gloves” in 2004, the NYABC title, the Metros, the Empire State Games, and two Golden Gloves titles in 2005 and 2006.

Biggest Loser Alexandra White’s Healthy College Lifestyle

alexandra whiteLast night, the season premiere of Biggest Loser aired and we were introduced to 16 new contestants ready to hand over their weight, fears, insecurities and desires for a healthier life to the hands of the experts. One of those contestants was Alexandra White.

Alexandra is a 20-year-old attending school in New York. In the first weigh-in the scales tipped to 309 pounds. And while she pushed herself harder than she had before, and lost 13 pounds that first week, her fellow contestants eliminated her.

Don’t feel too sorry for her though, Alexandra took those seven days on the ranch and turned them in to a catalyst for serious change in her life. Since going home she’s lost 70 pounds – and she’s done it by creating a healthy college lifestyle.
