With back to school shopping on every parent and school aged kid’s mind the requests have been pouring in for Allison to give another report on what trends will be popular this fall.

Teen Graphic Tees

I believe graphic tees should be a staple in every student’s wardrobe. They look casual and effortless, while still being trendy, polished and put together. My favorite outfit to wear to school is an over-sized graphic tee, pattern leggings and boots during the winter months. Read the rest of this entry »

What to Wear to Sorority Rush

With fall sorority rush just around the corner, along with back to school shopping, many girls are wondering what to wear during the recruitment process.

Here are some college fashion tips I have found to hold tried and true throughout the years:

What to wear to sorority recruitment

What TO wear to sorority recruitment

Begin by looking at your school’s Greek Life website, because sometimes the days of recruitment (especially Panhellenic) are themed and any dress codes for recruitment parties are announced on their websites. You’ll want to dress comfortably, as you’re going to need all of your internal confidence. It can be hard to feel self-assured on the inside when you’re uncomfortable on the outside.

Try to subtly stand out from the crowd. Choose a memorable piece of jewelry or interesting color, it will make the members remember you more. With so many girls, some can get lost in the shuffle. Members tend to remember “the brunette with the black bow head band” over plain Janes. Don’t try too hard though, you want want to appear to mesh well into their organization. What to Wear to Fraternity Rush

With fall fraternity rush and back to school shopping approaching, many guys are wondering what to wear during the recruitment process.

Here are some tips I have found to hold tried and true through out the years:

What to wear to fraternity recruitment

What TO wear to fraternity rush

Begin by looking at your school’s Greek Life website website, because sometimes the days of rush will be listed as formal, semi-formal, casual, etc. Be sure to wear comfortable outfits, you will need all of your internal confidence, and sometimes it is hard to feel self-assured on the inside when you’re uncomfortable on the outside.

Try to subtly stand out from the crowd. Choose a memorable hat or interesting colored shirt, it will make the members remember you better because sometimes there are so many guys that some get lost in the bunch. Members tend to remember “the guy with the fedora and aviators” over another guy in an American Eagle polo. Don’t over-do your outfit though, you also want to appear to blend well into their organization. Read the rest of this entry »

5 Horrible College Fashion Trends

College is the melting pot of fashion. Students are discovering their sense of self, and with that comes some pretty awesome trends. But unfortunately, they’re not all going to make it in the fashion hall-of-fame. Here are some fashion trends that will hopefully never make a come-back:

crocsCrocs: Sorry guys but these shoes aren’t really classified as shoes in the fashion world. Sure they’re comfy and come in every shade of the rainbow, but these frumpy clods of rubber should never leave your dorm. They make great house shoes, but that’s it.

pjsPajamas: It’s likely that you were running on less than six hours of sleep when you donned those flannel concoctions to class. But pajamas are just plain tacky. Remember guys, just because you roll out of bed 20 minutes before class starts, that doesn’t mean you have to look like you did. Read the rest of this entry »

Androgynous is the Teen Trend for Fall 2010

Allison Kramer is a high school student, aspiring to attend the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, who is inviting you into the real world of teenage girls. Allison has a video blog on her YouTube channel, Ally Baley, where she shares makeup, shopping and fashion advice while giving you an inside look at the actual life of the American teenager.

As you prepare for back to school shopping, I wanted to showcase the latest trend for girls that’s really hit the high school and middle school scenes: The Androgynous style.

From Fedoras to oxfords, menswear has become a popular trend for females. If you think these masculine pieces may not flatter a woman’s figure, you are wrong.Teenage Fashion 2010 Read the rest of this entry »

Forever 21 Launches Trendy Teenage Maternity Clothes

Forever 21 Love 21 LineAfter the premiere of the popular television show The Secret Life of the American Teenager, teen pregnancy is slowly becoming more socially acceptable. Surprisingly, parents are finding themselves encouraging safe sex campaigns sponsored by Planned Parenthood as opposed to abstinence only campaigns endorsed in the past.

Yet despite the new lax on society morals, controversy comes into the media again as the popular teen clothing line chain Forever 21 launches a new maternity line called Love 21.

Love 21 will be in Texas, California, Arizona, Alaska and Utah this month. Three of those states have traditionally high rates of teen pregnancy, however Larry Meyer, Forever 21 Executive Vice President told the press that, “any connection between the locations of stores carrying the line and pregnancy rates is a coincidence.” Read the rest of this entry »

Effortless style always scores high with back to school fashion. Think graphic tees, plaid shirts, sexy jeans, mini dresses & skirts, leggings and easy cardigans. This fall calls for bold and muted colors alike. Choose shades of grey as your new neutral, and pair it with like colors or pops of bright, bold Colors like cobalt blue, majestic purple, emerald green and ruby red. Comfort rules! But skip the sloppy look and focus more on clean lines for a look that’s casual & chic.

Defining your own style is easy because you make the rules. Go for what’s comfortable and looks good on your body – and borrow the rest! For cool style ideas, raid your brother’s wardrobe for worn out jeans, oversized v-neck sweaters and plaid shirts. Scour grandma’s wardrobe, too. Look for lace, faded florals and old-fashioned sweaters. Then layer up with your own personal touches for flattering dorm fashion that works for you!
