Hugh Laurie’s Education Background

Hugh Laurie is an English actor, comedian, author, musician, and director. He is well known for being part of the Fry and Laurie double comedy act, and more recently, for playing Dr. Gregory House on the hit television series, House. On April 1, 2011, his next production – the animated movie, Hop – will hit the big screens. EDUinReview will now take a look at Laurie’s education background.

Laurie was born on June 11, 1959 in Oxford, England. He is the youngest child of Patricia and Ran Laurie; he has two older sisters and one older brother. Laurie grew up in Oxford and attended The Dragon School, a coed preparatory school. After the Dragon School, Laurie studied at Eton and Cambridge. While he was at Cambridge, he was an oarsman and was very skilled at the sport. Unfortunately, he suffered from glandular fever and was forced to abandon rowing. He then joined the Cambridge Footlights Club, a club that has been the launching point for many successful comedians. He was elected president of the Footlights in 1981.
