Ryan Seacrest’s Education Background

Ryan Seacrest HeadshotRyan John Seacrest was born on December 24, 1974 in an Atlanta suburb, Dunwoody, Georgia. He is the son of Gary Lee and Constance Marie Seacrest. Seacrest attended Dunwoody High School. At age sixteen Seacrest won a hard-to-get internship at WSTR FM, in Atlanta. He was trained in the many skills of radio. Seacrest began to work on air at age sixteen.

After Seacrest graduated from high school in 1992 he went on to study journalism at the University of Georgia. Seacrest left UGA at age nineteen and moved to Hollywood to further his broadcasting career. Seacrest briefly attended Santa Monica City College.

At age twenty Seacrest landed a job in Los Angeles at KYSR-FM 98.7’s afternoon show. The show was titled Ryan Seacrest for the Ride Home. It became the station’s No. 1 show and was nationally syndicated.

Rush Limbaugh’s Education Background

Rush Hudson Limbaugh IIIRush Hudson Limbaugh III was born on January 12, 1951 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He is the son of Rush Hudson Limbaugh, Jr., a lawyer and U.S. fighter pilot, and Mildred Carolyn “Millie” Limbaugh. Limbaugh graduated from Cape Girardeau, Missouri Central High School in 1969. Limbaugh enrolled in Southeast Missouri State University but left after two semesters and one summer session. Limbaugh was not drafted during the Vietnam War draft lottery. He was also classified as “1-Y” due to a Pilonidal cyst.

Limbaugh’s radio career began even before he graduated high school. He began broadcasting in Missouri under the name Rusty Sharpe in 1967. After Limbaugh left college he immediately went into the radio business. He hosted several types of radio formats through the years, from Top 40 stations to sports radio.

Howard Stern’s Education Background

Howard Stern HeadshotHoward Allan Stern was born on January 12, 1954. He lived with his family in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York. His father Ben Stern was a co-owner of a recording studio, Auro Recording, Inc. Ben Stern was also an engineer for a Manhattan radio Station. Stern’s mother, Ray Stern was a homemaker and eventually an inhalation specialist. Stern has one older sister, Ellen.

The Stern family moved to multiple sections of New York state during Sterns childhood. Stern attended Washington-Rose Elementary School until sixth grade. After sixth grade, Stern attended Roosevelt Junior-Senior High School. In 1969 the family moved once more and Stern transferred to South Side High School in Rockville Centre.

In 1972 Stern began at Boston University in the College of Basic Studies. Stern remained at Boston University and he gained admission to the School of Public Communications in 1974. Stern earned a diploma in July 1975 at the Radio Engineering Institute of Electronics in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He also graduated magna cum laude from Boston University in May 1976 with a degree in communications and now funds a scholarship at the school.

Mike Catherwood’s Education Background

Michael Dwight Catherwood is an American radio personality. He is commonly known by his pseudonym, Psycho Mike. He is famous for his work on KROQ-FM and Loveline with Dr. Drew Pinsky. EDUinReview will now take a look at his education background.

Mike was born on March 15, 1979 in Los Angeles, California. He grew up immersed in the L.A. music scene, especially interested in punk rock and hard rock.  After high school, he attended Rutgers University and studied theater.

He then returned to his hometown and began working at the Kevin & Bean Morning Show on KROQ-FM, where he earned his nickname. He has earned worldwide acclaim for his music selections and segments on this show.

The Top 20 Songs of 2010

“Music makes the people come together, yeah…”

Okay, so maybe that song is a little old now, but it still tells a valuable truth: music is incredibly important to people’s lives. Certain songs can take you back to a fun summer memory, while others can remind you of sadder times or friends whom you’ve lost contact with over the years. EDUinReview would now like to bring a few of those memories back to you via a recap of the Top 20 Songs of 2010.

In 2010, there were several new artists who hit the scene – Ke$ha, B.O.B., and Bruno Mars to name a few. Also, several old-school bands made a come-back this year- Enrique, Usher, and Train.

College Radio Stations Compete for Top Spot

radioI love driving in my car, listening to my favorite radio station. The DJs are funny, the music is upbeat, and the call-ins are always interesting. I think it is safe to say that everyone has a favorite radio station for one reason or another, but how do you decide which ones deserve the title of being the best radio stations?

Leave it to the College Music Journal Music Marathon and Film Festival to answer this difficult question. This festival occurred last week and allowed fledgling artists and their fans to celebrate their music for five straight days.
