Ralph was born on November 4, 1961 in Huntington, New York. Ralph first became interested in acting when he began performing in several musical productions. When he was 16-years old, he starred in several television commercials. Before he even graduated from high school, he had appeared in a full-length move, Up the Academy. His next major movie was The Outsiders, which is based on S.E. Hinton’s book of the same name.
In 1984, he got his breakthrough role in the first Karate Kid movie. He also starred in the sequel and third installment of the film. His next major film was the 1986 movie, Crossroads. He then starred in My Cousin Vinny, a comedy with Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei. This was his first important adult role of his acting career.
