phi kappa psiHISTORY
Two men spending nights caring for a sick friend in 1852 during a disease outbreak found themselves appreciating their service, and wanted to start an organization focused on helping others. Those men were William Henry Letterman and Charles Page Thomas Moore, and the organization they started was Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.

Phi Kappa Psi was started on the campus of Jefferson College. The longest running consecutive charter in the fraternity is at Allegheny College and has been in operation since its inception on campus in 1855. The fraternity creed, which was adopted in 1964, includes mentions of a brotherhood of honorable men who are cultured, moral, loyal to their comrades and willing to give aid and sympathy to those who are less fortunate. Phi Kappa Psi also has an endowment fund that is used for the education of its members.

JFK Jr. was in fact initiated into the fraternity and part of the group of brothers who worked to restore our house's charter. Two years after he was initiated our house regained national recognition and went back to being Phi Kappa Psi and not just "Phi Psi." Although we were not part of national at the time, the house continued on and upheld the traditions set forth by its previous members. We at Rhode Island Alpha recognize JFK Jr. as our Brother and strongly feel that he has a place in our national organization. P.S. WE GO HARD! posted Dec 16th, 2010 7:40 pm

Founded in 1852, not 1855 as the front page says.

I believe that JFK jr was not blackballed, he was initiated while his chapters charter was pulled.
